Ingredients

Scale

Cheesecake Layer

  • 16 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Chocolate Cake

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup hot coffee or water

Whipped Cream

  • 1 ½ cups heavy whipping cream
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Filling & Garnish

  • 1 ½ cups cherry pie filling or cherry compote
  • Fresh cherries, chocolate curls (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Bake the Cheesecake Layer: Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Beat cream cheese until fluffy. Add sugar, eggs, and vanilla and mix until smooth. Pour into a lined springform pan and bake for 50–60 minutes. Cool and refrigerate for several hours or overnight.
  2. Make the Chocolate Cake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Mix flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. In another bowl, combine sugar, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla. Combine wet and dry ingredients, then add hot coffee or water. Divide into two pans and bake for 25–30 minutes. Let cool completely.
  3. Whip the Cream: In a chilled bowl, beat heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla until stiff peaks form. Keep chilled until ready to use.
  4. Assemble the Cake: Place one chocolate cake layer on a serving plate. Spread half the cherry filling, then gently place the cheesecake layer on top. Add remaining cherries, followed by the second chocolate cake layer. Frost with whipped cream.
  5. Garnish: Decorate with fresh cherries and chocolate curls if desired. Chill before slicing for cleaner layers.

Notes

  • Use room temperature ingredients for smoother batters.
  • Chill cheesecake layer fully before assembly.
  • Fresh cherry compote can be used in place of pie filling for a homemade touch.
  • For added moisture, brush cake layers with cherry liqueur or simple syrup.
  • Use a hot spatula for smooth whipped cream sides.
